Steve and DJ went full spooky-season mode with a spirited mix of horror, home theater talk, and a surprise Pixar palate cleanser. Steve opened by confessing he was running on fumes, energy drink in hand, while DJ kept us rolling with laughs, birthday shout-outs, and chat banter across multiple languages. They dove into the scariest/most unsettling films that stuck with them—from Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Poltergeist to The Exorcist, The Blair Witch Project, The Witch, Hereditary, and beyond—unpacking how horror lands differently depending on when and how you see it, and why tone, age, and life experience matter. The guys also touched on ratings history, PG vs. PG-13, and how some older scares still hit. Home theater highlights anchored the episode. They sparred (politely!) over Clown in a Cornfield (4K SDR, DTS-HD MA 5.1 upmixed): fun throwback slasher vibes, lively atmospherics, and solid visuals—though I questioned the internal logic while Steve embraced the genre goofiness. Then the boys tag-teamed Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning (4K UHD, Dolby Atmos): messy plot, great set pieces, reference-grade audio, and exciting variable aspect ratio that truly elevates the action. They revisited The Invisible Man (2020) and reaffirmed it as near-essential demo material: razor-sharp HDR, hair-raising dynamics, and a story that lands hard—even if the finale slightly “neatens” real-life complexities. Rounding out the horror double feature, the bus bench crew compared IT Chapter One (reference-tier audio and image) with Chapter Two (still strong but less dynamic, a bit baggy at 2h49m). For a change of pace, they both loved Elio (Disney/Pixar) as a warm, accessible family watch with stunning depth on the stream—especially that jaw-dropping satellite shot—and heartfelt themes about self-acceptance. They also teased upcoming watches (Fantastic Four, Jurassic World) and chatted variable aspect ratios, Kaleidescape vs. disc nuances, and why outstanding customer engagement from brands like SVS keeps us coming back. Thanks to everyone in chat and to all our listeners—see you next time for more scares, specs, and surround-sound goodness.
