Steve and DJ kicked off on time and dove into a jam-packed week. Steve shared his trip to London with a behind-the-scenes tour, courtesy of Jon Thompson, of BAFTA’s Dolby Cinema screening room—twin stacked Christie projectors, meticulous calibration, and seats sponsored by studios and celebs (including Hugh Grant’s cheeky Colin Firth plaque). He also met up with Todd Anderson of AV Nirvana and Paul Hurt, swapped stories, and admired Paul’s on-the-go production rig. From there, they reflected on the passing of Chuck Norris—his legacy, the 80s action lineage, and how he helped shape the genre—even as the guys teased more Ninja Month fun with Ninja III: The Domination and its gloriously 80s aesthetic. They reviewed Amazon’s The Wrecking Crew (Momoa/Bautista chemistry, lively Dolby Vision/Atmos stream) and the Australian indie We Bury the Dead (Daisy Ridley), a thoughtful, low-budget twist on the zombie genre worth seeking out. Then the guys compared two theatrical presentations of Project Hail Mary—Cinemark XD vs. local premium rooms—discussing projection, masking, bass impact, and Atmos envelopment. Spoiler-free: they both loved the film’s heart, technical polish, and dynamic aspect ratios; it’s a top-tier home theater candidate when it hits the living room. They then closed with a brief spoiler segment (flagged clearly) about the film’s themes of communication, choice, and bravery—and why it’s the kind of blockbuster that lingers long after the credits roll.
